Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
